Only if you download a lot. And even then, not really.
A tiny percentage of users download significantly more than everyone else—we're talking orders of magnitude more. That affects performance for other users, and bandwidth costs real money. So we had to set some limits.
Downloads now have a monthly bandwidth cap. This means data that moves from put.io to your devices. Uploading or transferring files into put.io does not count toward this limit.
100G plan: 1 TB of downloads per month. After that, speed drops to 1.5 MB/s.
1T plan: 3 TB of downloads per month. After that, speed drops to 1.5 MB/s.
Most users don't come anywhere close to these limits and you most probably won't even feel this change.
Even if you do hit the limit, you're not cut off. Downloads just slow down to 1.5 MB/s until the month resets (which is more than enough to keep streaming 1080p without buffering).
You can still stream your files on put.io, cast to your TV, etc. Downloading files into put.io works exactly like before too.
🕰️ Usage resets on the first of the month, every month. We'll warn you before you hit the limit, and again when you do.
You can see how much you've used so far on your Account page.
