# What is the difference between prepaid plans and subscriptions?

**Subscriptions** are automatically renewed each period (month or year). And the only payment method we can accept for subscriptions is **credit cards**.

**Prepaid plans**, on the other hand, are one-time purchases and don't auto-renew. You’ll get a reminder when it's time to renew and can manually extend your plan. We accept a variety of payment methods for prepaid plans - including **credit and debit cards**, **Apple Pay**, **Google Pay**, **iDEAL**, and **cryptocurrencies**.

It is also possible to purchase multiple prepaid plans and merge them. If you buy a prepaid plan more than once, we'll combine the days you purchased so you can get 3 or 6 months of put.io in advance.
