Running windows 7 64 bit. Last week I signed up for put.io. (Love it btw.) Free Download Manager was downloading at apx 2-3mb/s. However, the last couple of days Free Download Manager has inexplicably capped out at 200-300kb/s and then drops the connection with put.io server after about 30 seconds or less.

I'm resorting to downloading without Free Download Manager through my browser dialogue, which is downloading find but only at 200-500kb/s as usual.

PS. I forgot to mention that I've entered my username and password in Free Download Manager, no problems there.

    Hello Adam,

Most certainly this is a fluctuation in the quality of bandwidth between our
    ISP's.

Did you try using the "alternate route" on your settings page?

    Cheers,

Thanks for the response. I actually always use "alternate route". I'll keep my eye on it.

    Cheers

I changed my setting to the regular route and it did the same thing. As you can see in the image attached that my download stopped at 50%.

    Hi Adam,
We couldn't find out yet what the cause of this problem. If you don't have enough bandwidth (full size of the file, even if you've downloaded some parts of it) available, the download may stop.

I can suggest a workaround for this:

    • While adding the download to FDM, click on the Advanced button at the bottom.
    • On the Connection tab, there is a Sections group. Increase the Maximum number to 12.

This will ensure FDM to open multiple connections to get the file. If one connection fails, the other one will pick it up and continue.

I'm also adding a screenshot for the dialog boxes i mentioned.

    Have a nice day,
    Cem
