    Hello ygorali,

    Are they MKV's?

Divxwebplayer can't stream MKV's. The new one can, but not every MKV.
MKV's also require that you have a very speedy connection. (at least
    400K/s)

You can try streaming with VLC: Copy the "Stream using a local player"
link Open VLC, File > Open Network > paste URL.

If everything fails your only option is downloading the file to your
    local machine, I'm afraid.

    I have a connection of 4 mbit/sec

I also tried to stream with vlc but it didn't work well, keeps interrupting.

What if I upgrade the connection speed to 8mbit/sec and let's assume I have a stable dload speed around 700 kb, would it work ?

I paid for the service, however didn't get any value yet. Help me with it.

It's obvious if I can't watch those movies with streaming it's doesn't make any sense uploading those files. I can do that without put.io anyway, right ?

    Please advise,

    thx

    Hello ygorali,

I'd love to say yes. That's what should happen. (I'm watching mkv's
via vlc and over 500K/s is usually enough)
But the speed you're getting might depend on your location.

We had some trouble with the French and Turkish ISP's for example
    (hopefully solved now)

The safest advice I can give you is to find a neighbour with 8mbit
    connection and test put.io there.

I have the same problem with avi files, not mkv's.
I downloaded the Divx Player Plus latest version.
However, using VLC to stream the file works fine for me.

    Hello Drama,

Can you elaborate a little, what errors are you seeing?

Sometimes the VLC plugin takes precedence over Divx Web Player. If you are seeing a black screen with (no video) or (waiting for video) in the middle, that is most likely the case.

It can be solved by, uninstalling the VLC plugin. Let me know if we're on the right track and we'll work through this. Please also tell me what browser and operating system you're on.

    Take Care,

    Hasan.

I have the same problem than ygorali.
When trying to stream one video, I keep getting this message : "The file you are trying to play has failed to finish downloading and can no longer play"
Before I play the video, I can see the first image but when really playing it, i have the error message above.

But I can stream without a problem with VLC, just not directly on put.io
I didn't install a new VLC plugin, I just use VLC as my regular video player.

I use Firefox 3.6.3 on Vista 64 bit. I'm in France too.
I will try on a computer's friend to check if I still have that issue.

    hello Drama,

this happens almost exclusively with mkv's. if you are seeing it with normal avi's then there must be something strange with that avi going on. can you privately send me the link of the page, so i can check? (***@put.io)

    thank you.

    Hasan.

I just discovered that for some peculiar reason the divx plus web player plugin fails with the message:
"The file you are trying to play has failed to finish downloading and can no longer play" in the case where a slash-character '/' occurs in the arguments of the page-url.
    For example: showvideo_webpage.htm?file=dir/name

    Thanks,

    Dear Aybars Badur,

You can see the problem on the site:
    http://www.el.utwente.nl/studieverzameling/index.php

Select the menu item MEDIA and then Video's.
You will see two similar entries refering to the same video of an old
    project MART.
    The first one links to:
    http://www.el.utwente.nl/studieverzameling/display_video.php?link=videos/Mart_DivX.divx
This one is as it should be, but produces the error.

To solve the problem I made a work-around by replacing the slash / in
the video filename by an @-character
This is the second entry linking to:
    http://www.el.utwente.nl/studieverzameling/display_video.php?link=***@Mart_DivX.divx
Inside the script display_video.php I replace the @-character again by a
    slash-character.
In both cases identical webpage-sources are created.
    But now it works!!

Quite astonishing. I don't think it depends on the browser or my computer.

    Hi Albert,

As far as I understand, you are using divx web player on your site and have some problems with it. I think there is a misunderstanding here, because we are users of divx web player too, thus we don't/can't give support for it.
